Study Options. 

You can study the Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety (WHS) course (previously known as Occupational Health and Safety OHS) by online / distance study or via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).   

This option allows you to study this qualification at your own pace at home or work and is backed up by email and telephone support from 8am to 6pm seven days a week.  

Your course materials are emailed to you in Word and PDF format upon enrolment so you can save these to your computer and study whenever and wherever you choose. It couldn’t be easier!

Course Description.

The current version of BSB60615 Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety (WHS) course was released in March 2015 and replaces the older BSB60612 (2012) version of the course.

This qualification builds on existing skills and knowledge gained from studying the Diploma of Work Health and Safety or gained by exposure to Health and Safety responsibilities in your job.

This course covers all areas of WHS Management such as the application of health and safety legislative frameworks, implementation of a systematic approach to risk management, evaluate of workplace health and safety performance, conducting health and safety audits as well as the creation and maintenance of WHS Information Systems (WHSIS) and much more.

Both BSB60612 and BSB60615 replace the older BSB60607 Advanced Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety (Advanced Diploma OHS).  You can click on this link to read more about the difference between WHS and OHS.

The following core (c) and elective (e) units make up the Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety.

BSBWHS601  Apply legislative frameworks for WHS (c)

BSBWHS602  Facilitate WHS activities (c)

BSBWHS603  Implement WHS risk management (c)

BSBWHS604  Evaluate the WHS performance of organisations (c)

BSBWHS605  Develop, implement and maintain WHS management systems (c)

BSBWHS606  Conduct a WHS audit (e)

BSBWHS609  Advise on the application of safe design principles to control WHS risks (e)

BSBWHS507  Contribute to managing WHS information systems (e)

Entry Requirements.

You must be at least 18 years of age, able to use Microsoft Word proficiently and be able to read, write and speak English well. You will require a laptop or PC with Microsoft Word and Adobe Reader installed to complete the assessments.

There are three pathways into the Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety.

  1. You have already completed BSB51315 (or BSB51312) Diploma of Work Health and Safety (WHS).
  2. You have already completed the 5 core units of BSB51315 (or BSB51312) Diploma of Work Health and Safety (WHS).
  3. If neither of the above apply, you will need to complete our Advanced Diploma WHS Entry Requirements Assessment Workbook.
